What’s the group about?

Welcome parents and caregivers to the Parent-Child Music. Our goal is to create musical experiences with our children through the combination of music and movement. The first 30 minutes will be a guided musical lesson with yourself and your child participating, and the last 30 minutes will provide an opportunity for us to share and exchange ideas, music, culture, and experiences as parents and for the kids to enjoy snacks together.

Exploring your music-based bond with your child can be done both here and in the home. How you as a parent connect with music will influence your child’s experiences. Here are some ways in which we can explore music both in our group and at home:

  • Listening to music together (children’s songs, classical, folk, instrumental, musicals, operas, cultural, etc.)
  • Singing and making sounds with your child (humming, whispering, etc.)
  • Playing with language (poems, rhyming, reading stories out loud, etc.)
  • Moving and dancing with your child (games, free-movement, dance steps, etc.)
  • Using body percussion (clapping, snapping, patting, stomping, etc.)
  • Participate in musical experiences (concerts, live music, musicals, creating instruments, painting with music, etc.)
  • Encouraging and celebrating your child’s musical personality (listening, participating, providing opportunities, etc.)

Where and when do we meet?

Our group will take place in Stadtteiltreff Reichenau, Radetzkystraße 43f from 15:00 to 16:00 (google map link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/WTkhbDnRPmvmYB2S7) once a month on the following dates in 2024:

  • Monday, 8 January
  • Monday, 5 February
  • Monday, 4 March
  • Monday, 8 April
  • Monday, 6 May
  • Monday, 3 June
  • Monday, 1 July

How can I sign up?

If you know you can make the next month, please send me an email at or message with your name and your child’s age.

Should I bring anything?

  • We don’t use shoes in the room, so you can bring house shoes or anti-slip socks.
  • During the second half of the class, the kids enjoy having snacks together. You can bring some and the kids can share.
  • The cost is free so no money is needed. If you would like to contribute, you can leave a donation.
  • If the weather is nice outside in the warmer months, we can move the conversation to the park directly outside, so possibly outdoor play clothes.

Have more questions?

I am looking forward to making music with you all. If there are any questions or you would like to register for a class, feel free to reach out to me.
